Day 3
What Helps Me Open Up Again
Today's Focus
Even when we love someone deeply, there are moments when we feel stressed, overwhelmed, hurt, or simply shut down.
In those moments, what we usually need is not criticism, pressure, or solutions.
We need understanding.
Today is about discovering what helps you soften, reconnect, and feel emotionally safe again.
Reflection Exercise
Complete this sentence:
“I feel more open and connected in our relationship when…”
Then make a list of 5 things.
You might write things like:
• when we slow down
• when I feel listened to without interruption
• when there is no pressure and you have time
• when my feelings are understood and validated
• when we laugh together
• when we hold each other close
• when you’re simply fully here with me
You can also think about:
"When I'm stressed, upset, or in a bad mood, this is what helps me most."
No overthinking.
Just notice what genuinely helps.
Today's Connection Moment
Share a long, slow hug with your sweetheart.
Physical touch and closeness can help the body relax and release feel-good bonding hormones like oxytocin.
So stay close, hold each other, and gently synchronize your breathing.
Really feel the moment.
Stay like this for at least 50 seconds.
Take a deep breath.
Allow your body to soften.
Nothing to achieve.
Just being there.
If You're Doing This On Your Own
Focus on your own experience.
What helps you soften, reconnect, and feel more open with your partner again?
If You're Doing This Together
Compare your lists.
Stay curious about what helps each of you feel more open, safe, and connected again.
You may notice that what helps one person is very different from what helps the other.
That is very valuable information.
Before Tomorrow
Pay attention to what helps you feel relaxed, open, and connected.
We'll explore that tomorrow.
